Japan 2019: Tokyo Disneysea
January 15, 2020One of my most anticipated day on the itinerary, a full day in Tokyo Disneysea. I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited. Who wouldn't be?? It was my first ever time to a Disney park/land/world/sea! I could already imagine all the stickers, washi tapes, pens, and other "useless stuff" that I would collect and buy along the way there.
Tokyo Disneysea was packed to the brim while I was there on the eve of Christmas. We easily spent an entire day WITHOUT getting on all of the rides we wanted, magical indeed. Some of the popular ones had queues so long that it would put any python to shame. There were fast passes for some of the attractions but you have to be fast to get these tickets because not only do they make you enter the ride ahead of the queuing line but also, they run out pretty quick too!
When I was prolly around 7, I went up on stage and shook hands with Mickey and friends at a shopping mall's Christmas event. Out of all of the characters there, only Goofy gave me a hug at the end (ngawwww), which also explained why I had to get the Disneysea ticket with his face on it. Also, seeing this bunch on stage for the second time in my life was such a beautiful, upgraded deja vu version of my first encounter with them. Here is smol me and Goofy:
The first thing we did was to get cute headbands to get into that Disney spirit! Prior to all of this, I actually did some research on the available headbands and eyed on a pair of studded Mickey ears. Initially I didn't want to wear one because I thought it would look embarrassing but yo, everyone there had an extra pair of ears, three extra eyeballs, some with antennas, some with horns, and many more creative varieties. What is wearing a headband if others took the effort to cosplay as their favourite character? With that said, I highly recommend everyone to get a favourite headband and wear it proudly throughout the day!
Tower of Terror!! Easily my favourite ride in Tokyo Disneysea! The story was good, the ride was C-R-A-Z-Y which totally lives up to its hype. I especially enjoyed the part where we were flung up to the highest 13th floor, a large window opened and you can see the entire Tokyo Disneysea for a split second before plunging down into darkness. I was very lucky to be seated at the front row and I would love to be at that same corner seat the next time I'm there. I felt like I was to be flown out of my seat 90% of the time, love it!
As for Toy Story Mania, the queue was unfortunately super long so I took a photo of it as keepsake and will definitely come back for this ride in the future. And of course, the snacks were next-level KAWAII~! I had a fun time filling my tummy with the popsicles, mochis, waffles, popcorns, and so many other Disney-themed bites.
One of the really nice thing about Tokyo Disneysea is that you can actually bring your own food into the theme park and that's really good because it's cheaper that way (the snacks are of course slightly overpriced) and just in case you don't feel like lining up, you've got some food to keep you filled throughout the day.
The boat ride took us to Sultan's Oasis where we had a quick snack of soooooooooooper cute and delicious Chandu curry bun before going on ANOTHER boat ride, Sinbad's Storybook Voyage. As the narration was 100% in Japanese (so were the rest of the rides), I actually paid more attention to the animatronic figures that were beautifully crafted and designed to tell Sinbad's story. I am guilty of not knowing Sinbad's story so I literally didn't know what was going on but thanks to the amazing music coupled with my impeccable imagination, I actually choked up at the end of it all.
I went on the Jasmine's Flying Carpet and it was okay, a short and fun ride that I'll get on again. The Magic Lamp Theater on the other hand, was my lullaby with the incomprehensible Japanese narration (no English subtitles/translations) as I slowly fell asleep on my seat. It's a 3D thing but I had no single idea what Genie was saying and dozed off. Not a recommended ride!~

Right after meeting King Triton here at the Mermaid Lagoon, my phone dropped out of my pocket while I was busy stuffing my face with caramel popcorn. Immediately, I checked the trash bin (just in case I threw my phone together with the popcorn cups, JUST IN CASE) and walked back the path I took in the lagoon numerous times but to no avail.
After reporting my case to a nearby staff, I went 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea while thinking about my documentations of this trip now in the hands of some stranger. *cues sad music*
While waiting to get a seat for dinner, I decided to try my luck at the lost and found office. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a super cute onee-sama who asked me a few questions about the missing item's lock screen wallpaper, colour, model, and so on. She then politely excused herself to do the checking at another room while I waited for what seemed forever. At the same time I was preparing my poor heart for the possibility of a bad news.
Cute staff reappeared and informed me that my phone is now at Popcorn Stand No. 5, right opposite Finding Nemo park. She had to repeat another time for me to totally brain the entire situation. MY LOST PHONE HAS BEEN FOUND! I almost hug her but decided that I had to get my phone back ASAP so there I went running to my destination, tears in my eyes, heart full of hopes, thank you Disney and bless the kind soul that picked it up. [forgive me for the dramatic tone but I really want to remember this moment forever~]
Back story from onee-sama: Kind Soul-san saw my phone on the grounds of the Mermaid Lagoon, picked it up and walked towards the Finding Nemo theme park while looking for any Disney staffs that Kind Soul-san can pass the phone to. Alas, all Kind Soul-san saw was this popcorn stand and passed it to the friendly popcorn guys who made a report to the Lost & Found! Thank you Kind Soul-san!
Here are some fireworks shot on film to celebrate the unification of Me and Phone!
メリークリスマス! Merry Christmas! My one-day trip at Tokyo Disneysea came to a full circle with the beautiful fireworks show and Christmas Eve-to-Christmas celebration. During the entire water parade with its lovely Christmas songs, I felt so overwhelmed with everything that has happened for the day. From the fun times spent, to the popcorn-hopping sessions for different flavours, to the long, gruesome (and tiring) wait for rides, to the ordeal of losing my phone, that's a lot of mixed emotions in one day.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my first ever Disney theme park and I hope that in the near future, I will get the chance to visit and experience the rest of Disney's magical lands!
Here's ANOTHER shot of Woody on film before leaving Disneysea. Had a slight regret that maybe we should have tried our luck and lined up for the Toy Story Mania! ride. Oh well, but like they say, this gives me more reason TO BE BACK!
Photos were taken on film camera and by phone. Film photos were taken on the Canon SXL with Kodak Colorplus 200.
