Wipe Out 2.0
November 22, 2018
I can no longer keep track of the endless mentions and conversations about "surfing" ever since I started dating Abang. He is such a beach boy and what I mean by that is that he could actually live his life away on an island surrounded by the ocean. He loves the sea and I think if he weren't an engineer, he would be a great marine biologist.
So when he came across the Wipe Out 2.0 event, he got all hyped out and booked a room even before finding out who will he be going with. I for one had enough of the beach and would be glad to stay away from the sun for some time, so I told him from the start that I wasn't going plus I don't surf. Eventually all of his friends weren't keen so I joined this poor soul to Cherating and we had a great, great time.
For him, it was about the beach, surfing, beer, chilling, and all the other beach-y things a beach person would enjoy. For me, it was visiting a part of Malaysia that I have not been to and it's not always that I come over to this side of the peninsula. So here we go~
Upon arriving, I spotted many long hair, half naked, nice beach tan, boys/men around the area making it an eye candy fiesta for us girls. There were also food stalls to feed all of us with some beach cafes nearby too. A lot of fun events were going on for that day but the only one I participated was the beach volleyball which CAUSED ME TO HAVE A BUMP ON MY FRESH NOSE PIERCING. Anyway, that was inevitable, so even though I was crying inside, life had to go on.
For dinner, we head over to Terengganu which was just 30 minutes away for the stuffed crab meat dish at Tong Juan. We were slightly early when we arrived so we hung out at the park right opposite the restaurant and I had the time of my life with my camera and the kitty cats there.
I seriously need to start taking food photos because the stuffed crab meat was so delicious yet I have no photo to prove that I ate it or how amazing it looked. This is not the first time I have dug into the food before the camera did (we should eat first not the camera but still) and most times I only regret it when I start writing on my blog. Anyway, we headed back to the beach after dinner for some party time before heading back to bed.
Rise and shine! It's surf day for Abang and friends! I really regretted following them to the sea because it was freaking hot and my sunscreen wasn't strong enough that after so long, up till now as I'm typing this, my tan lines are still there and don't look like they will be leaving anytime soon.
On a side note, I just want to mention on how cute the animals were at Cherating Beach. They seem to know that they were on camera and posed prettily for me while I clumsily adjusted the shutter speed and what not. Here are some of them in the morning before Abang and friends started gearing up for their surfing adventures:
Halfway through the surfing session, a poor puppy swam back to shore with his surf board and showed me his stung arms. It was the jellyfish's doing and the itch was killing him which is why he came back just in case. Luckily, a frequent beach-goer was nearby and advised Abang to rub damp sand on the stung area and sure enough, before I could convince him to stop surfing, off he went to the sea again.
After a tiring afternoon at the beach, we took a nap before heading out to a nearby dinner place with cats again. Again, no food pictures but food wasn't too bad. The Duyong Restaurant also had a view of the river where boats ferrying people to go see the fireflies pass through at a specific hour. Dinner ended early and we went back to our hotel to pack our stuffs for the trip back home the next day.
While driving back, we made a stop at Kow Po Ice-Cream Shop at Bentong which is famous for their handmade ice-cream. The old uncle who owns the shop and makes the ice-cream is still here and he is such a warm granddad that I really wanna hug him and tell him how delicious the ice-creams were. We had two servings because the first one was so good and seriously wished we could stomach a third one but we were too full. Please do drop by this place if you can and try it out before he retires. I will come back many times to this place if I ever am near the area of Bentong.
It was a very relaxing short trip for me which I found the fun in it even though the main focus of the trip was Abang and his surfing adventures. Apparently he booked a surfing class but had to postponed it to early 2019 so that means he will be coming back again. But I told him that I wouldn't be coming along that time because there wouldn't be any event like Wipe Out 2.0 happening there, plus I don't surf and I have enough of backdated tan lines on my body that are not going away.
I'm so glad that I accompanied him though. And that I got to feel the sea again after so, so long. Next destination will be Malacca with my family to end the year and Jakarta in March 2019! Cannot wait!
