First Roll On My Pentax Spotmatic
September 14, 2017
So aside from my Ribena Toy Camera which I have used 2 rolls of film and failed tremendously in excluding my fingers from the shots (read it HERE and HERE), I also have a Pentax Spotmatic which is fully manual because the light meter is dead. It was definitely not as simple as the toy camera as you need to set the aperture, shutter speed, and also adjust the focus before taking a photo.
I've always wanted an analogue camera but at the same time doubt if I would actually use it in the long run. But looking at the fact that I can afford it now and that it does not only contribute content for my blog but also something I enjoy doing, I think it's going well!
Coincidentally, the boys were having an opening of their joint company during the weekend and that's when I decided to take the Pentax Spotmatic out to practice. I got to admit that I was very scared that I would ruin the camera by knocking it (I'm so clumsy) or maybe dropping it or worst, have the camera go through a major meltdown 😣 RIP my Golden Half. But of course, the fact that the camera is waaaaaay older than me and still working well, I don't see why I should think of it as a fragile creature!
These were shot with an Agfa Vista 400, enjoy!
As the light meter was no longer functioning, I relied on a light meter app on my phone but its so tedious to keep using the app and then only take a photo as I needed to determine which aperture I have to set to. I haven't got a hold on what lighting should go with which aperture but I have a feeling I am ditching the app soon. Or maybe just using it when I need it.
